Grant Awards

PCORI award:  “Improving Palliative and End-of-Life Care in Nursing Homes” - Helena Temkin–Greener is PI with Sally Norton, Craig Sellers and Tobie Olsan as co-investigators. 

HRSA award:  “Affordable Care Act (ACA) Grants For School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) Capital Program” to support the construction of a new SBHC at the Monroe Campus.  Kim Urbach is PI on the grant, which will support the third SBHC that will be operated out of the School of Nursing’s Center for Nursing Entrepreneurship.

Honors and Awards

Orlando Harris, MS, RN, FNP, PhD student, was notified that he was selected for a US Student Fulbright award for 2012-2013 to Jamaica.  

Feng (Vankee) Lin, PhD, RN was selected to attend the Summer Research Institute in Geriatric Mental Health through a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. The Summer Research Institute was held at the University of Washington in Seattle from July 15 – 20, 2012.

The School of Nursing has received funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing (NCIN) Scholarship Program. The School will receive $120,000 to provide scholarships to support 12 new students entering the School’s Accelerated Program for Non-Nurses (APNN) during the 2012-2013 academic year. The School of Nursing is one of only three nursing schools in the country to receive all five rounds of funding for this program.

Noelle Andrus, PhD, received a Certificate of Excellence from the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and the APTR Healthy People Curriculum Task Force (HPCTF), in collaboration with the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACP&U), for her case study and online modules related to the teaching of prevention, population health, and public health.
